What is the best type of printer to buy?

There are many types of printer around eg inkjet printer, laser printer, dot-matrix printer, thermal printer. Which is the best type to purchase from the point of view of quality?

Hey Alian346, I would suggest a laser printer if your looking to use it in the home. Laser printers offers great quality in text and photos, as well as it costs less than 4 cents  per page to print. You cant beat that!

Nobody makes thermal printers now except as receipt / label printers.

Dot matrix is so rare it's NEVER found in stores, and only used for places that prints multi-part forms.

So you're left with laser, vs. inkjet.

inkjet nowadays is always color, and prints photos very well (and everything else too). They are even quite speedy (up to 18 pages a minute). Their problem is cost of ink, and may require special paper for best results. THey are also rated lesser duty than inkjets. (hundreds, maybe thousands of pages a month)

Laser is more expensive than inkjet of equivalent functions, and consumes a lot more electricity (due to the fuser), but the output is more consistent on all sorts of paper, and toner cartridge easily lasts 10-50 times that of inkjet for same cost, but color lasers cost much more than equivalent inkjet. They are, however, rated fo much heavier duty (10s of thousands of pages a month)

So the answer is... what do you need?

If you need color, low volume, then it's laser

if you need higher volume, B&W, then it's laser

The best type of Printer you can buy is Inkjet Printer and for all official and industrial use you can buy the Industrial Inkjet Printer which is easily available at "citronix uk".
