Least Favorite Computer Brand?
Any computer brands you have had a bad experience with? Share your laptop or desktop woes. Will you buy from that brand again?
I don't have bad experience with any laptop brand. But Acer is worst company in computers as they have very poor build quality and hardware.
I'm going to get into trouble for this, but honestly, I don't like mac's. I'm a Windows guy. I like the right clicker on the mouse. I also like to go behind the scenes. Yes they are pretty, and yes they are outstanding if your a graphic artists.. So I don't hate them, I'll just never own one.
One side note -- I am beta testing Windows 8 and it scares me, it reminds me of a mac, or specifically of a tablet.
hehe, i'm not much of a mac fan either...too expensive for one thing.
If you don't like Win8 give Ubuntu Linux a try. It's a free OS and simple to run. Once you get started you won't really notice much difference.
No! There are several brands on the market today which are there only to make a profit. In my opinion Apple, Dell and Samsung are among the best computer brands around nowadays.
I had bought a Toshiba Satellite laptop in December 2010, and April this year (Easter Sunday) a message popped up saying that my hard drive had crashed. So I backed up everything and took it to my repair shop. I'm not putting the blame on anyone, but the owner of the shop contacted me two days later saying that the laptop had 'mysteriously' died. It seems like one of the workers messed up something internally on the laptop, and didn't want to admit it until the owner got it out of him. They eventually paid me for the damage and the money went towards my new one.
I was devastated, but I knew that the laptop brand wasn't really to blame for it's 'death'. Apparantly a failing hard drive is nothing overly major, once you've backed up all your information.
So I got a new laptop, and it's another Toshiba Satellite. I'm willing to give it another go
Acer. I run my computers a long time and expect them to last. I was happy with an IBM for over ten years and finally got a new computer because I was running Windows ME when Windows 7 was out. Seemed time to update. The Acer I updated to didn't last nearly that long and when I asked them for help fixing the problem they told me they would not do a thing because the Acer computer was more than 2 years old. I still think it's very lame for them to expect people to buy a new PC every year or so. Also, they sure must not be building their systems to last if that's how well they stand behind them. But, I did start running Linux then, so something good came out of it.
Very interesting, it seems that several people have mentioned Acer as being less than good quality. Will have to avoid them in the future then!
