Do you believe Chrome is no more a reliable browser for our computers?

Since some months, after the major changes done by Google, my computer is experiencing recurring problems and glitches in loading websites and files. Pages are not loading properly and double columns or triple columns appearing with photos, ads and texts unrelevant to the pages or duplication of the content in splits like patches here and there on the original content..

My son tells me Google Chrome is no more reliable and advises me again and again to switch to Firefox. But, I do not heed to him as I have been accustomed to Chrome since 3 years and do not want to desert it. Your opinion pl

In my opinion Chrome is just about as secure as Firefox. Chrome is the most used browser on the internet - and Google is constantly improving it - so I would try and reinstall Chrome on your computer to see if that makes thing better.
Eventually you can also install Firefox to try it out. There is no problem having both installed at the same time.
    Good luck :-)

I have experienced some of it, especially the wacky looking pages.  I thought it was the site.   Make sure you  have most recent version, run malware programs.  When I have issues, I use Firefox for same site, to see if issue happens there to.   When I have a lot of problems, I  uninstall and then reinstall Chrome again, which I have not had to do for quite awhile now.      I also use Trojan Killer which picks up things my virus program and malware program does not get.   There is a Free Trial but then you have to pay for it which is not expensive.  I pay for it now, bc it is worth it.   Actually, I have more issues when I use Firefox than I do Chrome.

Thanks, Linda. I got Chrome uninstall and installed again some 3 months back. It was going okay. But, now it again happens. I have AVG antivirus and Malwarebytes. I should check Chrome version which was updated 2, 3 weeks ago.

I have never used chrome.Having said that, there is no major difference between major browsers nowadays, from security and efficiency point of view. Scan your computer for virus and use a firewall, if you are not using one already. There are many online virus scans available.
    Hope this helps.

I had also been using Google Chrome since it was first launched. But I recently switched to Firefox, because Google Chrome web browser was not as fast as it used to be.

It is perhaps true that Chrome is slow nowadays. But, this problem is different and does not relate to  being a slow browser.

I've never used Chrome, so I can't really say....but I've been a Firefox guy for quite a few years now and have never had any problems.

I use Chrome all the time with little difficulty, unless I open a lot of tabs. However, I do not think it is as great as it used to be, and I have to run anti virus and spyware software constantly to keep it stable. I do spend a lot of time looking up how to clear issues like proxy server and constantly clear my browsing history and cache. When I do not perform these little tasks, I do run into difficulty. I saw that Chrome is the most used browser, but you do not have much privacy with it, unless you tweak it to get rid of this issue. It does take a lot of time. Firefox and Internet Explorer gave me much grief, so I will keep what I have now. Good Question.

Since I installed paid software for viruses and spyware,I noticed old problems seem to have disappeared.

Thanks for the reply, Audrey. I also want to retain this Chrome browser. That's why I am exploring all possibilities to keep it secured and working. I removed IE from my computer as it brought much virus and spam to my computer.

I use both those servers in case one is not doing well; I use the other. Firefox gave me a really bad time is why I got Chrome so who knows? Maybe it all has more to do with virus protectors? Sometime closing everything down and then opening a new page helps. Or to shut the computer down if it is really bad and I have set mine to clear all history on closing which I think helps.

I clear my history every 10 days or 15 days. A year back I used to clear only after 3 months or so. But, when I experienced difficulties getting virus 6 months ago, I began clearing every 10 days and run malwarebytes also. The other AVG runs daily.

I have been using Chrome for many years, and I am the kind of person who usually have 6,7, windows or more at a time.

I can honestly say that I have not had any problems that I can lay on Chrome.

I find it user-friendly, no slower than any other browser [ that I do use when using other than my puter]  and quite efficient.  But then Google would want to. . .

Maybe the problems are due to other than the choice of browser?

That's true, Marie. I also trust Chrome and think the problems are not because of using Chrome but something else. I always used to work with Chrome keeping open 7, 8 windows and never had problems. Only since 5, 6 months these problems are happening

I am wondering if about Chrome, as well. I am experiencing the very same loading problems with columns and ads loading on top of each other.

I actually have noticed this problem with only HubPages. I have not reported it to HubPages, because I always wait and see if the problem spreads or goes away.

Thanks M for starting this conversation. I will be waiting for the fix.

The problem is mostly with Hubpages. But, at times, it seems the pages mix up with other websites also occasionally. I hope it is something with Chrome browser and might be resolved by them soon.

I recently have learned how to use Google Slides.  I have found it is easier to upload pictures and graphics with Internet Explorer, but I get a greater variety of transitions with Chrome.

As far as the browsers are concerned, Chrome is always among the best. Yeah, there are some glitches in the newer versions of the browser but to me, it is still the best compared to the other browsers. Whether it is the different options, whether user friendliness is considered, whether light weightiness of browser is considered etc., no matter which aspect you take into account, Chrome is superior in every sector. That's why even if you face some problems, i think it is best to stick with chrome but obviously by solving the problems that are taking place. Because problems like higher website loading time, recurring etc. is not completely absent with other browsers!
Also if you think you need to switch to another browser, it will not be a wise decision for you at all. There are some common features in almost all the browsers. So if you think that you are not getting the 100% desired performance with chrome in a specific sector, you can go to another one for that. But don’t try to withdraw yourself completely from the one you have used for so many years. This can be the best alternative option for you in terms of getting the best results from browsers.

This is what I wanted to know. You explained it clearly that chrome is the best one to stick to. That is why I have not changed my browser in spite of some hardships faced. Now, my pages are not facing any glitches. Even though loading slow.
