There are almost endless ways to get backlinks to your hubs or websites - as an internet marketer and freelancer, this is the heart of my business.
Here is my hub:
What I discuss there is software that is designed just to get you backlinks. There is another service I use to mass distribute articles I write.
If you want a free way to get backlinks, here are some of the best ways:
Set up a "Google Alerts" for your keywords to your website. Say your website is on vitamin D3, that would be the obvious keyword, or nutrition, supplements, etc.
Google Alerts is a way that Google will inform you when your keywords were commented on, blogged about, whatever. You will get information according to how you set up your Google Alert. The service is free, just type in "Google Alerts" and get started.
What I do when I get an alert (you can set it to tell you "as it happens" or weekly, daily, etc.), is I visit the site. If it's a blog, I'll leave a comment.
Others interested in the topic will visit my site if interested. And it works, it just takes time.
Another way to do it for free is to write an article (I write 5k words on a slow day, 20k when I'm clipping along - write a 500 word article or so, just a page), then post it to EzineArticles. Once published, either re-write it or post it to other directories, I suggest Articlesbase and GoArticles. A Copy/Paste is fine in small numbers like this.
This will get you some traffic. It will also help you get your site ranking higher in the SERPs...
For some other tips, you can read my hub on this subject (I'm going to make another one to address this very question - it's a great question, I'm in the middle of writing a beginner's guide to internet marketing for a friend's dad who wants to do this):
I go into more detail about backlinks on my lens:
For other tips, I'd suggest a few blogs (the first being mine):
The bottom 4 all have a lot more experience than I do, my friends' blogs, but we're all in the same boat: getting more backlinks means a better position in Google...so we're all obsessed with that question!
