    I am using Google Keyword Tool and sometimes Market Samurai for keyword selection and just do more quality blogs and hubs about your niche.

    @internett13, Market Samurai has everything I need for keyword research, but this tool gives me the right words and phrases to use for page 1 ranking every time!

    We use a variety of paid tools from SEOmoz for competitor research and finding link opportunities.  As far as strategy, it's best to look natural and go for a variety of different types of links, from the hard to get high quality onces to the easier comment links and so forth.

    There is no 'Best' strategy for link building or SEO.
    It is based on number of variables for a website eg
    Competition on keywords
    Target you have in mind
    Timeframe
    are few of these. There are many more.
    As every website has unique needs so SEO strategy needs to be devised accordingly.
    Link building has to be natural and from quality websites relevant to theme.
