Best New PC Monitors from Samsung, Dell, and HP in 2014

If you're going to get a computer monitor, then you should consider getting one from a reputable brand. This article will feature the best PC monitors of the year from trusted brands like Samsung, Dell, and HP and give you a review of our top overall LED and LCD pick for each.

What's the difference between LED vs LCD?

LED is the newer technology which allows for a more environmentally friendly monitor that doesn't use mercury and consumes far less power. This is because LED monitors use a "light emitting diode" technology for backlighting. LED Monitors in general are also less strenuous on your eyes. LED monitors are generally thinner, and are able to produce deeper blacks due to the ability to dim or completely turn off LED lights.

When looking for a PC monitor you certainly get what you pay for. While inexpensive monitors can certainly give the allure of high product specifications for a cheap price, visibly you can often see the difference between what is a quality made product and what is a cheaply made product.

Expect to pay a little more for a LED monitor than a LCD one - disadvantages to some LED monitors include complaints that the backlighting bleeds into the screens. This is not as much of a problem with newer models that have been released in 2011-2012.

Samsung PC Monitors

Now A world leader in digital technology, more than 70 years ago Samsung was formed with a goal of making the world better through a wide array of businesses. Their high-technology division has been especially sustainable as they continually put out high quality durable products that consumers will return for.

What size of Screen should you purchase?

A larger screen can make you more productive. Productivity501.com states that computer monitors up to 24 inches increase your overall productivity while monitors over or under 24 inches will make you less effective (assuming you aren't sitting a distance from your monitor).

Best Samsung LCD Monitors

Our featured Samsung LCD monitor is the Samsung B2430H. This 16:9 widescreen monitor has an attractive glossy look to it and a dynamic contrast ratio of 70,000:1 bringing you deep and dramatic tones. Despite being a LCD monitor it comes with a MagicEco features which allows you to reduce your power consumption.

Response Time:

The B2430H has a fast response time of 5ms. The faster the response time the better (especially for movies and gaming). Response time is basically the time it takes a pixel to go from black to white and back again. A low response time can cause blurring while gaming or watching videos. If your purpose for this monitor is for gaming, then look for a response time of 3ms or less. If you want more information on gaming monitors, then take a look at this hub on the best gaming monitors for 2012.

Additional Specifications: HDMI Connectivity, D-Sub, DVI, 1920 x 1080 Recommended Resolution, 300 cd/m2 brightness, and 1 year parts and labor warranty.

Cons: The glossy monitor is both a positive and negative at times. If you work around a lot of lights sometimes it's better to search for a matte finish monitor.

What one owner said about the Samsung B2430H Monitor:

"By far the nicest, cleanest picture I've ever had using a monitor. Amazing color and clarity, plus supports RGB for older monitors, HDMI for a TV/game input, and DVI for a normal computer display. "

LED seems to be the way to go. 3D seems desirable but I wouldn't go as far as that. Kind of uncomfortable having to wear a glass though a glass free 3D monitor might change my mind. However, all this will ultimately depend on the price. I wonder if any of the All-in-One pc is using LED technology??!!
