Best Eyefinity Gaming Monitor 2015

Updated on January 19, 2015

Top Rated Multi-Monitor Setups for 2015

Even though Eyefinity was released as an option to Radeon's 5000 series of graphics cards in 2009 there are still very few thin bezel computer monitors that would make for a good multi-monitor setup. In my quest for the perfect setup I've been through quite a few monitors and collected quite a bit of information.

Below I'll review a few of my favorites and give you tips on how to strip the bezel off of your monitor in order to decrease the amount of space between your monitors.

Choosing a Monitor for your Eyefinity Setup

Eyefinity technology allows you to run up to 6 displays off of a single GPU. To see exactly how your GPU stacks up, I recommend you take a look at AMD's Eyefinity page which shows you exactly what your Radeon GPU will support.

When choosing a monitor for your Eyefinity setup remember to look for one with a DisplayPort connector or be prepared to purchase a separate Active DisplayPort to Single-Link DVI-D Adapter or if you have a DVI monitor that has a native resolution that supports above 1920 x 1080p, then you'll need to purchase the pricey active dual-link DVI to DisplayPort adapter. For additional information see AMD's Eyefinity page which I linked to above.

Eyefinity Setup Options

Aside from removing the bezel on your monitor there are still very few choices when it comes to a quality Eyefinity setup. Some gamers simply put the side monitors behind the main monitor in the front. While this is not ideal, it does remove some of the excess bezel that most monitors still have.

If you have the money, then you could consider something like Samsung's MD230X3 which allows you to purchase 3 monitors all at once inside the 3 and 1 stand. Another option includes the pricey CRVD curved displays, but with the thickness of the screen, price, and resolution you're probably better off purchasing 3 LCD displays and purchasing a quality triple monitor stand like the Ergotech Triple Horizontal stand.

Removing the Bezel on Your Monitor

If you purchase a monitor with a thin bezel to begin with, then you might not feel that this is necessary. Still, this is one great way to remove much of the bezel that gets in the way between your screens. This video does a great job of explaining what you need to do; however, it's important to remember that not all monitors are built the same and that occasionally you'll come across a monitor where the plastic actually holds some of the monitor's internal pieces together.
