Cath Kidston Purple Field Flower iphone 4 Case - Florals are so Cath Kidston

Four stars from Amazon reviews!

This is an Authentic Cath Kidston but not all these designs are - some are just Cath-style. Watch out! (Same goes for Kath cases - they are Kath Spade inspired but not all official Kath Spade merchandise.)

On the other hand you might not care too much how authentic the pattern is. You might just love it just the same!

Cath Kidston Vintage Floral iPhone 4 Cases - Floral prints are close to Cath's heart!

Cath Kidston started her business when it was still a small shop in Holland Park, (a posh part of London), by selling vintage fabrics along with wallpapers and brightly-painted bits of bric-a-brac and furniture. Based on the English country house style and traditional designs, she hit the nail on the head when it came to giving the market what it wanted, an old-fahioned, shabby chic with a but of a giggle thrown in.

Soon Cath was designing her own products and floral prints were an essential part of their success. One of the first items that Cath sold was a printed ironing board cover which has become a symbol of her work.

PS The pretty bag, polka dot napkin sets and spotty mugs belong to my long-suffering friend Sue who seems to have filled the role of props manager in my writing career.

Cath Kidston Spot iPhone 4 Cases - The traditions of polkadots

Although the polkadot pattern goes back to the middle-ages and beyond, it really came into its own in the 20th century and may be linked to the mid-century Polka dance craze. When I see these little white spots on a brilliant red background I think of Minnie Mouse! Born in 1928 thanks to Walt Disney, Mickey's cute female friend came dressed in a polka dot skirt. Since then designers have made full use of the polkadot including Rei Kawakubo, Miuccia Prada and, of course, Cath Kidston.

What Would You Take to Your Desert Island? - Cath Kidston chose a hot waterbottle

Cath Kidston was the Desert Island castaway on Friday, 29 Apr 2011.

The long running BBC Radio 4 programme, Desert Island Discs, explores the life and career of a different guest every week, painting a picture of their lives with words and music. The guest, famous, infamous, eminent or otherwise deserving, tells the story of their life and chooses eight pieces of music to take to their desert island. At the end they are given the chance to take one disc, one luxury and a book.

This luxury can't be a person or animal, and can't be of any practical use, (no life-boats or iphone 4s, (with or without Cath Kidston cases), to ask for help here!)
