What is CAD Software Used For?
CAD software… Its been used to design your fancy apartment in LA, your car, and even the [hopefully] ergonomic chair you sit on to read this. But what exactly is it?Although there are discrepancies among the name and its abbreviation, CAD stands for computer-aided-design. One alternative is computer-aided-drafting. This name, however, has been changed to reflect the new capabilities of CAD software, which have developed as technology has, allowing for better, speedier design than ever before.CAD software is useful for many phases of the design process in consumer goods and the tools and machinery that make these. Because of its nature, CAD software is also an indispensable tool in architecture, with capabilities of designing residential lots to industrial buildings. The mechanical engineering, electronic, software applications, and apparel areas also benefit from using this technology. Not only is using CAD software innovative, but it has many advantages such as lower design costs and a shorter design time. Many architects save time by developing their work on a computer, and are even able to save their work for future editing.Sadly, the development of technology is known to have double-edged effects. In one industry it may be known to create jobs, and in another, it takes them. Any of the areas beforementioned seem to have a balance of jobs both lost and gained with the use of CAD software. Therefore, computer-aided-design software is not to be looked down upon yet. Better yet, exploit it to its full potential and make the best damn products ever.
