The Great Digital Divide?

There is a very large proportion of people who do not have access to the information technology tools that have become ubiquitous the world over. These people have no digital foot-print and a google search of their name will not yield any results. Are they at a more disadvantaged position than the digitally connected?

I suppose if I took a good look at it, yes, I'd say they are at a disadvantage.  No matter how much I'd like to disconnect from the vast digital network of today, the fact is that it's become less a luxury and more a necessity.  Businesses are using social media as a screening method for potential applicants, for instance.

Overall, it's just the way society is developing, and those who cannot or will not adapt will inevitably fall behind and eventually, for lack of a better term, be rendered obsolete
