I'm planning a word press powered website featuring Anime (Japanese cartoon) reviews. I'm debating whether it would be wise to also include manga (Japanese comics) reviews?
It will be monetized but mostly for fun, though I do want traffic and an audience. I'm debating whether the topics cover to much and it would be better to focus on one or the other. Any advice?
I think they would be related enough that if you could find the passion for both you would do OK. Just remember, fans of those genres are pretty passionate and have no tolerance for wannabes, so if you can't bring your A game to both topics, just stick to your favorite.
Great Manga fan and an expert on the subject. If you were opening a Manga site, you wouldn't have to focus on both Manga and Anime. But since you are considering Anime, than Manga is a must.
A fan of the Japanese art (over the age of 13) will always prefer the comics because they have no censorship and have stronger humor. On the other hand Anime is more attractive, either way I can't see either of them going without the other.
For a full experience it would be great to cover both, for the comics that have Anime. Try not to do one without the other, although that is rare for popular Manga. Given a little time you can create a solid website, but you will have to give a lot of yourself during the first few months.
