For the first time a copy mark has shown up on one of my hubs.  It's one about Halong Bay.  I clicked the link and to my horror its been published by not one but four sites!  They are:

    pressbox
    mynewsdesk
    linkroll
    articlesbase

These are not sites I've seen other hubbers mention about hosting copied articles.  I haven't had time to check them out and I'll be interested to see if they've taken my photos too - which I took.

I will deal with it but right now I have to got to earn a buck so that I can continue traveling and writing!  This sucks.

Yeah, it always makes me feel dirty when I find people who've ripped off my work... There are always more DMCA complaints to file, it seems.  But in the end, it really is worth doing.

Thanks Maddie.  I will definitely follow this through and chase down the culprits!

travelespresso, it's so irritating, isn't it?  The good and bad news is it seems to happen to all of us at one point or another.  Anyway, you have my sympathy.  I hope the DMCA filing goes smoothly.  sad

Keep on traveling!  I so need a change of scenery from the dreary Pacific Northwest right now.

None of the sites have the DMCA forms but I've sent a very focussed email to each of the sites concerned.  I told them the name of the person who ripped off my content and that I take theft very seriously and I expect them to take immediate action.

Lets hope it results in action because I won't take this lightly.

BTW - kudos to HP for trying to make this process very painless.  Firstly by advising me and secondly by giving me the website address and a link to file the DMCA.  Although the file part of the link wasn't of any use to me (this time) the rest was.  Thanks HP team.

Actually, I don't even know what DMCA stands for!

OK quick news from mynewsdesk.  Here is their reply to me.

'Thank you very much for your link. The account Indochina Sails has now been deleted. We apologize for the inconvenience.'

This was one of the names used when my work was stolen.

travelexpresso-- you can also go to google adsense and file a complaint, that usually also does the trick.

Thanks for that tip Rebecca.  I didn't know about that angle.  This is a first for me and I hope it'll be the last but I doubt it will be!  Sigh!

I'm making progress but its time consuming.  Articlesbase have removed the article published on their site which is great.

I have emailed linkroll again and have heard nothing from pressbox at this stage.

I also emailed the company and have received an apology from them.  I copied the managers as well as the perpetrator.  I think they now understand how serious this breach is.

I know, but it seems if Google knows about it, they are very good at getting a site which isn't listening to follow through and delete.
