There is no question that the auto crisis hit both the global and U.S. auto industries hard. We have all heard stories about the devastation that Detroit has gone through in recent years. But things are looking up. Ford announced that they plan to hire 7000 new employees in 2011-2012. Companies that are listening to what the people want are doing much better. Hyundai, Subaru, Ford, and Chevrolet are examples of manufacturers that are providing the types of reliable, reasonably priced, high MPG cars that the new consumer is looking for. The lesson of the auto crisis seems clear. It’s true; “If you build it they will come.” At least, if you build what they want.
