Smart cars are a brand of car made by German car maker Daimler AG. They are part of a class of mini car often referred to as a city car in Europe. Since coming to the United States in 2008, Smart cars have been very popular. They are primarily driven locally and in city conditions. The company began offering an electric powered version of the car in 2011. In 2010 Daimler AG announced that they had formed a partnership with car makers Renault and Nissan to collaborate on the next generation of the Smart car.
