In most modern cars the chassis is connected to the body of the vehicle. All parts of the suspension are mounted on the chassis. The springs which absorb shocks as we drive, the struts and shocks which keep the vehicle from bouncing up and down, and the torsion bars which prevent the vehicle from swaying from side to side. The suspension system is very important for a safe ride. If the vehicle is bouncing a lot or the handling seems worse than usual the suspension should be looked at.
