Most tests have shown little performance differences between the different types of blades. Changing blades every year or so is the best way to make sure your wipers do the job properly. Treating the window with a solution that repels water can be very helpful to the blade performance. To assist windshield wipers, vehicles typically have a washer mechanism that sprays a cleaning solution onto the windshield. The wiper then cleans the window with the solution. This is particularly helpful when bad weather is consistently putting streaks on the windshield.
