Fuel Cells
Fuel cells can be thought of as a kind of battery that can be refilled with the power source. That’s what distinguishes fuel cell technology from basic battery technology; fuel cells are easily recharged. Fuel cells can theoretically be used to power any device that requires current. There are different types of fuel cells that are intended … Keep Reading → for different applications. Because it is able to produce power very quickly, the fuel cell that has been promoted as being useful for automotive technology is called PEMFC, or polymer exchange membrane fuel cell. These hydrogen powered fuel cells are reported to be much more efficient than gasoline or diesel and will result in a much lower amount of pollutants released into the environment. There are challenges with fuel cell technology. Issues such as the cost and durability of the cells as well as the method of providing the fuel source that the cells use are still being worked out.
