Thought to be a gimmick just a few years ago, the success of the Toyota Prius and other hybrids has put that technology firmly in the mainstream. Hybrid models are being unveiled at a rapid pace and the reaction has been enthusiastic. The all electric vehicle may have made even greater strides. With the Nissan Leaf coming to market in December 2010 the electric car movement had its first car meant for the average buyer. Combine that with the huge advances of Silicon Valley car maker Tesla and the future of the electric vehicle is very promising.
