Hybrid vehicles have seen a significant rise in popularity and there are many models available in all shapes and sizes. Electric cars have made big strides as well. The big concern with electric vehicles was that they didn’t have a lot of power and needed to be charged frequently. Improvements have been made in both areas. In December 2010, the Nissan Leaf became the first electric car produced by a major car maker intended for the general public. Silicon Valley car maker Tesla has introduced models that are designed to compete with the best cars on the road in any category. Both hybrid and electric cars look to be a big part of the future.
