Hydrogen technology can be used in traditional internal combustion engines or made into fuel cells to take advantage of that technology. Besides being such a clean fuel source another benefit of hydrogen power is that it can be produced from a variety of natural sources such as solar power. The challenges of the technology are the efforts needed to produce hydrogen fuel sources as well creating a mechanism to get the fuel to the general public. There are hydrogen powered cars on the road today. The fuel cell powered Honda FCX Clarity is one example.
