Some of the most popular books available are the biographies and memoirs of famous or historically significant people. Biographies typically come in two forms. Either way can result in a fascinating book. Biographies provide an opportunity to get a deeper and more personal understanding of people who we often know more for what they did than who they were. Autobiographies by historical figures such as Gandhi and Malcolm X provided fascinating looks into the minds and thoughts of these two men. Few books of any type are more powerful and moving than The Diving Bell and The Butterfly, by Jean-Dominique Bauby. Classic biographies include Truman by David McCullough and Schindler’s List, by Thomas Keneally. These are just a few examples.
