The age of the superhero had officially begun. The two main publishers, DC and Marvel will fight it out for years. Spiderman didn’t come onto the scene until 1962. A few years later the medium would evolve, with graphic novels becoming popular. Early works include The Silver Surfer, by Jack Kirby and the legendary Stan Lee, which was released in 1978. Over the next 10 years the works of Frank Miller, Alan Moore, and Art Spiegelman would start to define the graphic novel as a separate and respected medium.
