Most Americans today have grown up with the popular superhero characters as a standard part of the entertainment world. These characters routinely appear in various media forms. The next three years would bring us Batman (or more precisely, The Batman), The Flash, The Green Lantern, Wonder Woman, and Captain America. Marvel and DC Comics were the major forces introducing the world to these superheroes. In 1961 and 1962 Marvel introduced The Fantastic Four, Spiderman, and The Hulk. Through television shows, and later, major films, many of these characters would become some of the most popular characters in American popular culture.
