Past winners include Ernest Hemingway, Pearl Buck, and William Butler Yeats. There are other prestigious literary awards as well. Many of them are awarded by clubs and organizations. The National Book Critics Circle award is but one example. There are also respected awards for writers creating work in other formats as well. Some of the more prestigious include The Academy Award for best screenplay and the Tony Awards given to creators of work for the Broadway stage.
