Slavic literature refers to literature produced in any of the Slavic languages. This covers quite a lot of material. That respect continues today with works of all of the above authors being a regular part of college and university programs worldwide. There are other Slavic writers who have achieved worldwide success and acclaim. Czech writer Milan Kundera has had several novels published in the west and his The Unbearable Lightness of Being was made into a major film. Other noteworthy writers include Elias Kenetti of Bulgaria and Ivo Andric of Croatia, both of whom were awarded The Nobel Prize in Literature. Polish born Joseph Conrad should be mentioned for his many fine works, though they were typically written in English.
