Western Literature

Western literature technically describes the literature of the cultures that originated in Europe. Much of the history of western civilization can be seen represented in the great works of Western literature. Events from the history of ancient Greece, to the fall of the Roman Empire, to the Russian revolution, and many others have been chronicled by the great authors of Western literature. The classic names in Western literature are among the most famous and respected names in all of literature. Legends such as Aristotle, Homer, Chekhov, Shakespeare, Tolstoy, Dostoyevsky, and Twain are just a few. The works of these authors as well as numerous other great authors of Western literature are readily available in bookstores and libraries. Some books may even be in the public domain and available for free.
