The amazing body of Russian literature and the relatively recent, but impactful contribution from Americans are also well represented. Innumerable great works from additional Western countries are also to be found. Other parts of the world, including many third world nations have made their own important contributions to World literature. Beyond producing the art form of literature, World literature also affords people living far from other cultures to gain a deeper understanding of those people and cultures.
