Not all art is created as a means of expression. Some art is created primarily for commercial purposes; because people often consider the look of something before making a purchase. Art of this nature is sometimes referred to as Industrial art. An example of this would be an artist who designs cars. Car makers have long understood this fact and they have employed designers that create beautiful cars. The same logic applies to the design of virtually every product produced. Product manufacturers in all industries understand the importance that the look of a product has in the final purchase decision. Take a look around your house. Look at the coffee maker and toaster and television. So many things that we don’t think of as art have been designed to appeal to us aesthetically.
