The area of Islamic art covers a wide range of art that has been produced by and for Islamic cultures for over a thousand years. Later types of art include extensive use of ceramics as well as painting and highly detailed and respected glass creations. The separate (but related) area of Islamic architecture includes the creation of many elaborate Mosques in numerous countries. From the design of the structures to the details that are found inside, these buildings represent some of the finest creations of Islamic art. A recurring theme in much Islamic art is the use of the arabesque style. The arabesque style makes liberal use of designs that emphasize repeating pattern based on natural themes.
