This can include airplanes, helicopters, and any other machine that is designed to fly. Aeronautics is concerned with vehicles that fly within the atmosphere of the earth. The science of astronautics extends that concept to vehicles that fly outside of the earth’s atmosphere. Everything involving the space program and flight to outer space falls under the heading of astronautics. The theories involved in astronautics were first developed by Isaac Newton in 1687.
