Earth is part of the Milky Way galaxy. The Milky Way is part of the Local Group of galaxies which is made up of more than 30 separate galaxies. The Local Group of galaxies is part of the larger Virgo Cluster of galaxies. This pattern continues on and on to create countless millions of galaxies. Cosmology has attempted to study the universe and man’s place in it. The theories have changed dramatically over the years.
