Chemical Physics
The terms chemical physics and physical chemistry are often used interchangeably. They both are concerned with how the various chemical compounds react and are explained by physical principles. Both subjects deal with four key areas of study; Thermodynamics, Statistical Thermodynamics, Chemical Kinetics, and Quantum Chemistry. Thermodynamics … Keep Reading → involves the study of how energy is converted into heat. It evaluates criteria such as how changing the intensity of the energy may affect the heat produced. Statistical Thermodynamics attempts to compare how microscopic particles are related to that which can be seen with the naked eye. Chemical Kinetics is the study of how fast the process occurs. Quantum Chemistry is the study of how molecules are bonded to one another. These four subjects illustrate the diverse nature of inquiry involved with chemical physics. The principles covered are applicable to chemical as well as biological analysis of all kinds.
