Some students who qualify for four year colleges choose to attend community or junior colleges for two years because they are generally cheaper. They then transfer to a four year college and end up with the same degree from that school as the students who paid for the full four years. If money is a big issue, this can be a much more economical way to get a four year degree. For the majority of students, if they qualify academically and can pay the tuition or get enough financial aid, a four year college would be the preferred choice.
