When parents take advantage of parent-teacher conferences and other opportunities to chat with teachers it often allows the parent to learn of any challenges (academic or other) that their child might be having. Likewise parents can let the teacher know of any special circumstances at home that might be important. Kids face a lot of pressures in school. When both parents and teachers are working together to try and provide the best environment, the child is usually the winner.
