Religious beliefs always play a part in the discussion. Some people feel that anything other than abstinence should not be discussed. Others want their kids to know all of their options. Exactly what information, how graphic, and at what ages to start are difficult questions that all school systems have to decide. The education can cover everything from basic anatomy to discussions about sexual activity, sexually transmitted diseases, pregnancy, and a variety of related topics. Everyone agrees that sex education is an important subject.
