The coldest months have average temperatures of -80 degrees Fahrenheit or more. Antarctica is located in an area around the South Pole. The Atlantic, Pacific, and Indian oceans surround the continent. Almost all of Antarctica is covered in ice caps. The area doesn’t actually get a lot of snow, but because of the high winds that accompany the snow it is considered to have the worst blizzard conditions on earth. To the surprise of many, Antarctica is considered a desert area. It is a polar region, where almost all of the moisture is frozen solid.
