The work of Charles Darwin for example which combined the eye of a naturalist with scientific analysis to create one the most important works ever written. Darwin’s book “On the Origin of Species, introduced the now well-known theory of natural selection. Other writers such as Henry David Thoreau combined a detailed description of nature with his philosophical views about being part of the environment. Walden, by Thoreau stands out as one of the classic works of nature writing. Whether the writing is designed to explain nature literally or serve as a metaphor for something else, the beauty and complexity of nature makes a worthy subject.
