Greenhouse Effect
The greenhouse effect has gotten a lot of attention, but is still often misunderstood. Not only is the greenhouse effect not a bad thing; life on Earth would most likely not exist in its current form without it. The greenhouse effect allows the heat from the sun to combine with the gases on earth to keep the planet warm enough for us to survive. … Keep Reading → The greenhouse effect has become a controversial subject in recent years because of the computer models that suggest that increased gases on Earth such as carbon dioxide are eroding the ozone layer and thus producing an increase in the intensity of the greenhouse effect. This, it is theorized, will result in Earth’s temperature rising over time. It is feared that these rising temperatures will produce a number of shifts in areas such as polar zones and oceans and have significant negative impact on the planet. The objective is not, as some mistakenly believe, to eliminate the greenhouse effect, but rather to manage its intensity.
