American history may go back further than you think. The first Americans arrived thousands of years ago. It is believed they came from the area that is now Russia and landed in what is now Alaska. This includes everything from the colonial period to the present day. From the events leading up to and including the Revolutionary War, to the times of slavery, to the tragedy of Americans fighting Americans in the civil war it is a history of ups and downs. It is a history of bravery and innovation, but it is also a history that has undergone many challenges. Through the challenging times America has come to be considered one of the most important countries in the history of the world.
