From the times when dinosaurs roamed the earth, through later ancient societies such as Egypt, the work of archaeologists has provided clues to civilizations throughout the history of the world. Therein lies the greatest value of archeology. By finding examples of what actually existed, it enables us to gain a historical perspective of civilizations where no recorded history remains. While archeological findings are often subject to interpretation, they still provide compelling evidence of the ancient past.
