The Renaissance began during the last part of the Middle Ages and lasted over 200 years. The Renaissance is often viewed as an artistic and cultural movement as much as a political one. The human element was much more important during the Renaissance. This can be clearly seen in the work of the artists of the time. The lack of detail and emotion from the Middle Ages was replaced with much more realistic and emotional works. Leonardo da Vinci is among the many great artists who are closely identified with the Renaissance.
