Prehistoric Times
The time of the world known as prehistoric times covers a lot of years. Exactly how many years is subject to debate. Though prehistoric times technically includes all times since the creation of the earth, when the term is used it generally refers to the time since man has inhabited the planet. The term prehistory literally means before history, so prehistoric times end around the time of the first recorded history; which is about 5000 years ago. Because of the lack of written records we have had to learn about prehistoric times through the work of archaeologists. From the early cave drawings, to the weapons that have been found, to the fossils and evidence of dinosaurs and other creatures, a picture of the world before history has been formed. The prehistoric times have been categorized based on the number of years ago. The longest time is known as the Stone Age which includes (from oldest to most recent) the Paleolithic, Mesolithic, and Neolithic periods.
