World History

The study of World History includes the people and events that have shaped the world throughout its existence. It may include prehistory as well, but typically World History is thought to begin with the written records that mark historical times. Rome would eventually develop into what became known as the Roman Empire and be the leader of the world for close to 700 years. New powers such as the Normans and later the British emerged in the ensuing years. Asia was mostly dominated by China who went through several ruling dynasties. Europe and the Middle East saw additional powers such as France, Russia, and the Ottoman Empire form over time. The Germans flexed their muscles in the 20th century, but two world wars put an end to that. The world powers since the Second World War have been Russia, China, and the newest of the world powers, the United States.
