Sometimes it seems as if we have gotten a legal education from the many movies and television shows that have been about lawyers. There are still many words used in the law that are not understood at all or, perhaps worse, even misunderstood. The word assault for example is commonly used in society to describe an attack of some sort. Under the law though, even the threat of harm can be considered assault. If we are not sure of a particular word or words there are plenty of legal dictionaries that will provide explanations. Any bookstore will have a selection and there are websites that make it easy to search for words or terms.
