The fish species that are commercially available represent just a fraction of a percent of the different life forms that exist in the oceans. Marine biologists study things such as the chemistry of the water, and the different kinds of life forms including fish, mammals, plants and microscopic organisms. They also study the habitats and environments in which these different organisms exist. It is a huge field of study that covers the majority of the planet.
