Biolinguistics is an interdisciplinary category of linguistics that is concerned with the biology behind the systems of human language. This a highly theoretical field and there are many critics. Much of the criticism revolves around the approach of biolinguistics which often treats the process of communication as something similar to a mathematical formula where a type of communication can be traced back to a definable set of computational steps. Biology is based on a process of evolution and not the fixed laws of physics and mathematics. Much like biology itself the study of biolinguistics is evolving.
