Another example is the classic categorization of writings into genres. In the case of fiction writing stylistics would drill down even further to analyze the specific methods used to communicate the story. It could be through use of symbolism or metaphor for example. It would also look at whether the story was told in the first person or in another way. Virtually any element that speaks to the style in which the writing is constructed falls under the category of stylistics.
