Friedrich Nietzsche was a 19th century German philosopher best known for his contributions to the subject of existentialism. Everything was subject to change and subject to the conscious and unconscious will of the participants. Nietzsche was strongly and publicly anti-religious. He was not, as is sometimes suggested, a proponent of war; but he did write of his admiration for those who are capable of violence. In part because of these writings, he became a favorite of the Nazi party. Some people associate Nietzsche with the Nazi party even though he died well before the party came to exist.
