At the heart of the philosophy of science is the scientific method for evaluating and testing. Scientific theory and the philosophy of science are both based on the empiricist school of philosophy which states that something must be experienced for it to be real. If it cannot be experienced and demonstrated in a consistent manner then it cannot be scientifically valid. The concept of inductive reasoning adds on to this concept by allowing that if something happens every time it is evaluated it is reasonable to assume that the result will continue to happen.
