The most important work on the subject of gravity is that of Isaac Newton and Albert Einstein. Newton theorized that gravity was the force that pulled objects together based on the mass of the objects and the distance between them. The smaller and further apart the objects, the less gravitational force there is. Einstein described gravity as not a force, but rather a distortion in space and time.
